Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation seeks a Materials Lab Technician to support laboratory testing of materials used in highway and bridge construction. This role ensures compliance with project specifications and state and federal regulations.

You will work under the Lab Supervisor in the assigned section, gain exposure to Bituminous Mix Design and Asphalt Properties, and contribute to a career ladder with advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; combinations with education/experience accepted.
• One year of materials lab technician experience or qualifying per Helena policies.
• Two years of materials lab technician experience or equivalent qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing of materials for highway and bridge projects.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and state/federal regulations.
• Provide test results to design staff, contractors, and project managers.
• Operate a variety of mechanical and electrical testing equipment.
