Job summary

Boom Technology is building a new materials lab in Centennial, CO, and seeks the first dedicated lab and test engineer to shape the lab from the ground up. You will design, implement, and run mechanical tests on aerospace alloys, creating a data-driven backbone for material properties used in engine development.

You’ll specify equipment, hire lab techs, write procedures, run campaigns, and collaborate with design engineers to generate critical material data for the supersonic jet engine program.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on testing experience with aerospace alloys
  • Familiar with ASTM test standards and data traceability
  • Ability to write and validate lab procedures
  • Strong data skills and scripting for repeatable analysis

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute mechanical test campaigns on aerospace alloys
  • Collaborate with lab technicians and senior M&P engineers
  • Write and validate the lab's test procedures against ASTM standards
  • Build the data backbone: test logs, data pipelines, and reduction scripts
  • Support metallographic evaluation and SEM inspection and fractography
  • Support allowables-style test programs and statistical treatment of data
  • Commission new lab equipment and stand up test capabilities
  • Assist NCR and root cause investigations with disciplined methods
