Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Materials Lab Engineer to join a team focused on developing and delivering innovative products that can be manufactured at scale. You will perform materials testing, develop test methods, and analyze data to guide material choices and process improvements.

You should have hands-on lab experience with polymers, composites, microscopy and spectroscopy, and you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate breakthrough ideas into production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or Master's degree in Materials Science/Engineering.
• Experience with Mechanical testing.
• Materials characterization methods such as: microscopy, XRD, SEM, Spectroscopy, etc.
• Hands on lab experience-Experience with polymers, composites, optical, adhesives, thin film, etc.

Responsibilities

• Conduct materials testing and characterization in a laboratory setting.
• Design and develop test methods and setups to evaluate mechanical, optical, chemical, and physical properties.
• Prepare and process sample coupons for testing and analysis.
• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to obtain materials, components, and test samples.
• Partner cross‑functionally with engineers to develop innovative characterization techniques and test methodologies.
• Analyze experimental data using statistical tools (JMP preferred) and generate meaningful insights.
• Document test procedures, results, and conclusions through clear technical reports and presentations.
• Present findings to materials engineering teams and support interpretation of experimental results.
• Collaborate with equipment vendors to commission, qualify, and implement new laboratory equipment.
• Support the maintenance, calibration, and upgrade of existing laboratory equipment and capabilities.
