Job summary

The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University is seeking a Materials Coordinator to support procurement, inventory management, and logistics for a multi-disciplinary research environment. This on-site role supports engineers, program teams, and business functions to ensure material availability and timely deliveries.

You will organize warehouses, maintain records, and ensure compliance with government and university policies.

Qualifications

• Experience with physical/digital inventory control in manufacturing, labs, or engineering environments.
• Hands-on use of MRP/ERP systems (item masters, BOMs, transactions, multi-location inventory).
• Ability to digitize and centralize BOMs, build records, part numbering with high accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with suppliers, buyers, engineering, and program teams to obtain materials and monitor delivery.
• Organize warehouses, stockrooms, and storage locations for inventory accuracy and safety.
• Maintain accurate electronic records supporting inventory management, procurement, and audits.
• Collaborate with engineering, program management, manufacturing, procurement, and other departments to resolve material and scheduling issues.
• Ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS/ITAR-EAR and university policies on procurement and logistics.
• May supervise staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
