Qualifications

  • 0–6 months material handling experience; 1–2 years shipping/receiving preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Move material and parts using forklift/crane to support production and shipping.
  • Pick parts from a list and deliver to lines or staging areas.
  • Perform tugger routes and refill bins; maintain supply in work areas.
  • Package, weigh, and stage material; follow BOM for packaging and skidding.
  • Communicate potential supply problems to supervisor and purchasing.
  • Train and coordinate with other departments on material handling and inventory processes.

Job Description
Position Summary

The Materials Handler supports Crenlo's Service & Aftermarket operations by moving, staging, packaging, and tracking material and parts throughout the facility using a forklift and/or crane. This role also generates the paperwork for material receipts and shipments, performs shipping, receiving, and cycle count transactions, and helps ensure positive, accurate material flow inbound and outbound. A successful candidate is a self-motivated, detail-oriented multi-tasker with a strong work ethic who can move between physical material handling duties and warehouse system transactions to keep aftermarket parts moving safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Moves material and parts around the plant/warehouse using a forklift and/or crane to support production, packaging, and shipping of aftermarket product.
  • Picks parts from a picklist and delivers to production lines or staging areas when scheduled.
  • Performs scheduled tugger routes, refilling bins with parts from a market or warehouse location.
  • Ensures work areas are supplied with parts and removes finished skids to the warehouse or designated staging area.
  • Moves and stages material as scheduled for optimum efficiency; provides machine support by emptying scrap tubs and clearing lines of finished product.
  • Packages, bands, weighs, and stages material and finished product in a timely and accurate manner; follows the bill of material to match product with proper packaging and skidding.
Communication & Coordination
  • Communicates potential supply problems to the supervisor and purchasing.
  • Communicates and coordinates with outside departments on shipping and receiving activity.
  • Trains, coordinates, and communicates effectively with other departments on material handling and inventory processes.
  • Maintains familiarity with shipping-related paperwork and associated system transactions required for daily activities.
Safety & Quality
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures, including required OSHA safety training (on-the-job training provided) and forklift/crane licensing requirements.
  • Understands and follows the quality policy and procedures; recognizes and reports quality issues and defects.
  • Performs miscellaneous tasks throughout the plant to ensure safe, efficient, and quality production of materials, including housekeeping duties when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Key Skills and Competencies
  • Able to handle physical, repetitive work, including standing for 8-10 hours a day.
  • Good hand-eye coordination; able to handle small parts.
  • Competent in basic math and computer skills; working knowledge of PC and Windows operating system (trainable on Oracle EBS).
  • Excellent forklift and material handling skills; able to operate banding tools and read a tape measure.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and familiarity with inventory computer transactions.
  • Able to read, comprehend, and follow detailed instructions in English, including bills of material and production orders.
  • Able to distinguish between part numbers and sizes and count and label parts accurately.
  • Ability to recognize quality issues and detect defects.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including legible writing; able to train and coordinate effectively with other departments.
  • Strong safety awareness and efficiency skills; follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Mechanical aptitude a plus, but not required.
  • Valid driver's license required; forklift and crane license required.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-6 months of material handling experience; 1-2 years of prior shipping/receiving experience preferred.
  • Required OSHA safety training (on-the-job training provided).
