However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Ability to do the work of a Materials Handler (MVO) without more than normal supervision. I work independently and liaise with prime vendors to order subsistence and supply items, and receive, store using first in, first out procedures, and issue items in a kitchen warehouse. I am able to use an electronic database to maintain kitchen inventory for a dining facility and inpatient hospital, set PAR levels, and comply with monthly disinterested inventory requirements.
Personnel are often required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Most tasks require quick hand and arm movements. Workers continually handle, carry, or lift items and/or bundles that weigh up to 45 pounds; however, in receiving and shipping, occasional lifting of bulk bundles weighing over 50 pounds is required. Dexterously move, position, or operate wheeled carts or non-mechanical weight handling equipment independently or with assistance from other workers.
Workers perform duties inside and/or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted and/or in walk-in refrigerators and freezers. Personnel are exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock while working in a commercial kitchen area. They may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, and solvents. When working in hazardous materials areas, they may be subject to exposure from chemical fumes. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, gowns, hairnets, beard nets, protective cold weather clothing or aprons.
