Job summary

Leggett & Platt in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Material Handler to receive, move, and ship materials supporting production lines. You will perform cycle counts, maintain inventory records, and operate fork trucks in a safe, efficient manner.

Requirements include a solid material handling background, forklift certification, ability to read production schedules, and strong attention to detail and safety. Basic math and ERP/MRP computer skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Solid work history in material handling.
• Forklift operation experience and/or certification.
• Ability to read and interpret production schedules, packing lists, and incoming material sign-offs.
• Strong attention to detail and effective written/verbal communication.
• Good judgment regarding safety, quality, cost and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Transports various material including fabricated and vendor parts, scrap, finished goods.
• Receives, stores, delivers and maintains inventory records of parts and materials to production lines and other areas.
• Safely loads and unloads trucks and containers and delivers material to proper delivery points.
• Maintains minimum stock in production area to ensure continuous production and reports shortages.
• Performs ERP/MRP transactions to maintain accurate quantity-by-location inventory.
• Participates in safety checks and lean/kaizen activities.
