Job summary

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO is seeking a Materials Handler I for the Office of Laboratory Animal Research (OLAR). This full-time position supports cage wash, docks, and auxiliary areas, handling PPE, inventory, cleaning, and disposal duties within a highly technical research environment.

Qualifications

• One year of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned.
• Substitution: education or related experience can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
• Preferred: experience with e-mail, word processing and data entry into a database.
• Preferred: experience operating and maintaining complex machinery.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate equipment used by OLAR and research staff per procedures.
• Follow SOPs and use PPE as required for the work.
• Receive and inspect goods including animal diets, live deliveries, and equipment.
• Enter data into inventory systems and assist with stock rotation and expiration tracking.
• Operate cage washing and sterilizing equipment and assist with facility maintenance.
• Prepare, dispense and use hazardous chemicals for cleaning and disinfection.
• Maintain equipment validation logs and assist with pest control records.
• Assist with transporting supplies and loading/unloading cages and equipment.
• Perform general cleaning and meet required safety and training standards.
