• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.


• This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program and requires the incumbent to pass urinalysis periodically throughout the employment periodically thereafter.


• This position requires the incumbent successfully complete a pre-employment physical and annual thereafter.


• This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Fork-lift Certification/Hazmat certification within 90 days of employment.


• This position has a requirement to lift up to 75lbs.


• Incumbent must be hazardous material packing certified. 8B-F7 Defense Packing and Hazardous Material for Transportation. Certification must be updated every two years.


• This is a Term position scheduled to last 13 Months.


• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element)

Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (FLO/ HAZMAT) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Hazmat). I can perform warehousing operations which include 1) receiving, storing and issuing a wide variety of supplies and equipment; and 2) unloading, inspecting, and tallying stock to assure quantities and types of items agree with shipping documents. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

• Physical Effort: The incumbent is required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time and to bend, stoop and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Lifting items that weigh up to 75 lbs. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from others.


• Working Conditions: Work is accomplished inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty or poorly lighted. The incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls and injury from falling stock. There is routine exposure to dust, dirt, grease, high noise levels in mechanized work areas and may occasionally be subject to exposure to toxins or chemical fumes. Safety shoes and protective goggles are a requirement of the position.
