Job summary

1-800-FLOWERS.COM, INC is seeking a Material Handler to support production and packing lines, feeding taper machines, palletizing, and assembling gift orders for expedited processing of customer orders. You will build pallets, ensure QA and vendor compliance, and sort products by size and SKU, while maintaining a steady flow of work on the shipping line.

The role requires reading and following written instructions, lifting up to 30 lbs, and willingness to work varying shifts including overtime

Qualifications

Material Handlers provide general labor support to production, pack-on-demand lines, or other areas by assembling trays and lids, feeding tapers, palletizing, and configuring gift orders to ensure expedited processing of customer orders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Build pallets according to storage specifications, ensuring pallet pattern meets all requirements.
• Ensure quality assurance and vendor compliance specifications are met.
• Physically stack and unstack pallets.
• Support the shipping line by maintaining a constant flow of product or removal.
• Read SKU numbers and sort product by size/ SKU of box to prepare for loading.
• Perform other duties and work in other departments as assigned.
• Adhere to all SQF (Safe Quality Foods) guidelines.
• Maintain reasonable and reliable attendance.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

• Some high school education is required .
• Ability to communicate with employees at all levels (peers, leadership, and employees).
• Basic reading skills (English).

Physical Demand and Work Effort:

• Able to perform repetitive tasks (walking, bending, twisting, and using hands, wrists, and arms).
• Perform general housekeeping (break down boxes, remove trash, sweep, etc.).
• Light assembly duties.
• Limited lifting.

Requirements:

• Ability to read and follow written instructions and labels.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate product sorting and handling.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. frequently .
• Comfortable working in varying temperatures ranging from -10°F to 40°F.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and demonstrate a positive team-oriented attitude.
• Able to work assigned shift hours, including overtime or weekends if required .
• Willingness to cross-train and assist in other departments as needed.
