Job summary

MEC (Mayville Engineering Company, Inc.) in Wisconsin is seeking a Material Handler to support production through timely material movement, accurate picking, and efficient use of forklifts and computer systems.

You will coordinate with multiple departments, help meet schedules, participate in Continuous Improvement projects, and uphold safety and shop floor controls while contributing to a cooperative team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of relevant experience and/or training preferred.
• Forklift certification a plus.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate material movement between departments per routing requirements.
• Sort questionable materials per Quality Control’s request.
• Prints and distributes pick tickets and performs computer transactions as necessary.
• Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support.
• Ensures production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods. Assists during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions.
• Ensures good communication and feedback with management, employees on their shift, and between shifts.
• When assigned, assists the supervisor/area manager with Continuous Improvement Projects, evaluation of new equipment, determination of training needs and interviewing/hiring.
• Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems.
• Follows all safety procedures, wears proper PPE. Proactively identifies and corrects unsafe conditions.
• Studies systems and procedures for opportunities for improvement. Proposes changes to Materials Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.
