Job summary

Scientific Research Corporation is seeking a Materials Specialist on the production floor to locate, move, and verify parts to support on-time order fulfillment. You will maintain inventory records, coordinate with supervisors, and direct material handling personnel to optimize workflow.

The role requires an educational foundation with related experience and entails responsibilities around tracking materials, ensuring accuracy, and aligning with production priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of production floor supply experience; OR associates degree and four years of production floor supply experience; OR equivalent military supply experience and two years of production floor supply experience OR high school diploma / GED and six years of production floor supply experience.
• Locates and moves materials between work areas to expedite processing of goods, according to schedules and priorities.
• Maintains related records, reviews production schedules and inventory reports, and determines types, quantities, and availability of required material and priorities of customer orders.
• Coordinate with department supervisors to determine materials overdue and inform them of location, availability, and condition of materials for current and upcoming operations.
• Locate and move material to specified production areas using cart or hand truck and record quantity and type of materials distributed and on hand.
• Direct Power-Truck Operators or Material Handling Laborers to expedite movement of materials between storage and production areas.
• Compare work ticket specifications with physical material at work stations to verify appropriateness of material in use.
• Prepare worker production records and update and maintain inventory records using computer terminal.

Responsibilities

• Locate and move materials and parts between work areas to expedite processing of goods according to schedules.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and update production schedules to reflect material availability.
• Coordinate with supervisors to identify overdue materials and communicate location and status.
• Direct material handling personnel to ensure efficient staging and timely consumption of materials.
• Record material quantities and types moved, and verify against work orders.
• Ensure compliance with safety and workflow procedures during material movement.
