Responsibilities

1. Receives, examines, and determines the condition and disposition of a wide variety of materials.
2. Reviews disposal turn-in documents, compares data against property, and ensures correct information and proper documentation (e.g., stock number, nomenclature, quantity, unit of issue, disposal authority code, DEMIL, condition code).
3. Visually inspects usable property for signs of condition and determines acceptability.
4. Determines condition, reportability, and special handling requirements (e.g., hazardous material, precious metals, security, DEMIL, etc.) and assigns appropriate classification instructions for warehousing.
5. Verifies accuracy of demilitarization codes, challenges questionable items/codes, and maintains segregated storage of property requiring DEMIL.
6. Ensures proper certification is attached to turn-in documents when demilitarized.
7. Performs special and periodic inventory, re-palletizes, and re-locates property as needed.
8. Operates forklifts and related equipment to move, load, unload, and stack palletized materials, supplies, and equipment.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Tour of Duty: 1st Shift
• Security Requirements: Non-Critical Sensitive
• Completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination; unfavorably adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal.
• Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Non-Exempt
• Selective Service Registration: Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt.

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated based on the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Experience can be paid, unpaid, or volunteer work that demonstrates the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Emphasis is on experience quality, not duration. Meeting the screen-out element (SOE) is necessary for further consideration.

Physical Effort & Working Conditions

Performs moderate to heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), works on hard surfaces and rough terrain, and may work in tiring positions. Work environments include warehouses, docks, scrap yards, and are exposed to weather and physical hazards. Safety precautions and PPE are mandatory.
