Brazeway in Adrian, Michigan is seeking an Engineering Intern to join a collaborative team focused on HVAC components and aluminum heat transfer tubing. You will work on research and development, analysis, fixture builds, and cross-functional projects.

The role emphasizes CAD design, data interpretation, and reporting, with opportunities to travel to other Brazeway locations. Candidates should be pursuing an Engineering or technical degree and demonstrate strong communication and teamwork

Qualifications

  • Working towards a bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technical Degree (preferably taken classes in Materials Characterization)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to interface with all levels of the organization and externally with customers and suppliers
  • Self-Motivated Student with ability to juggle many tasks

Responsibilities

  • Research & Development: contribute to innovation and improvement of products and processes in the HVAC industry
  • Analysis and Testing: perform calculations and tests, interpret data results and recommend next steps
  • Fixture Builds: perform calculations and tests to support fixture builds
  • Administrative: support Engineering teams and coordinate across multiple projects; travel to other Brazeway locations as needed (<10%)

Where we are located:

Our facility is in Adrian, Michigan. This area is a great location for commuters and residents of the Ann Arbor / Toledo areas. Within a 30-45-minute commute are opportunities to live in the heart of a vibrant city or live in a suburb with all the amenities. We also have manufacturing facilities located in Kentucky (Hopkinsville), Indiana (Shelbyville), and Mexico (Monterrey).

What the opportunity entails:

The intern will be given different projects based on their interest and what they want to pursue in their career. The internship will include the following areas:

Research & Development:

The opportunity to work and contribute torwards the innovation and improvement of products and process in the HVAC industry.

  • Provides ideas to improve products, services & processes
  • Use state of the art tools in our labs to work and improve skills
  • Effectively utilize CAD to create new designs, and improve existing ones.
  • Create samples
  • Design prototypes
  • Contribute to design solution activity through utilization of previously learned skills with CAD tools, simulation tools, fundamental engineering principles, and coaching from team members
Analysis and Testing:
  • Perform various calculations and tests on projects to produce data analysis and interpretation.
  • Assist in developing laboratory testing, interpreting data results, and recommending next steps.
Fixture Builds:

Perform various calculations and tests on projects to produce data analysis and interpretation.

Administrative:

Support the Engineering teams on various projects

  • Must be flexible as business opportunities develop and able to multi-task with other duties and projects when they become available.
  • Actively follows and manages to our Process Based Leadership, Code of Conduct and our 5S+Safety Program.
  • Track progress throughout assignment and provide a report out to Brazeway Leadership at end of assignment.
  • Improve professional presence through working with cross-functional teams on various projects, presentations, and initiatives.
  • Is willing to travel other Brazeway locations as needed – estimated to be <10% of the time.
What a candidate must have to be qualified for the role:
  • Working towards a bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technical Degree (preferably taken classes in Materials Characterization)
