Job summary

US Tech Solutions is seeking a Materials Engineering Lab Technician in the United States. Duties include preparing and analyzing material samples, supporting analytical tasks, and performing laboratory work with limited engineering oversight.

The role covers tasks from routine to infrequent, with responsibilities to maintain lab processes, assist in quality improvements, and support production and maintenance teams in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in process control and analytical analysis to be interfaced with this position.
• Experience in manufacturing environment.
• Experience with shop floor or laboratory environment.
• Participation as a contributing team member on substantial process problem-solving teams.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience.
• Experience with production systems and databases.
• Experience with using Microsoft Office Suite and other electronic engineering software tools.

Responsibilities

• Completes tasks involving preparation or analysis of material samples/components/processes with minor engineering oversight for moderately complex activities.
• Develop, recommend, and implement analytical or process changes needed to maintain or improve product quality on a tactical or strategic basis.
• Work with maintenance and production personnel to troubleshoot laboratory equipment, process, or analytical problems.
• Participate on project teams to leverage knowledge and experience to improve factory performance in safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
• Create and maintain process instructions or develop analytical processes to meet production needs.
• Create and maintain laboratory procedures and processes.
• Maintain Sustain level of 5S in the materials Engineering lab.
• Perform laboratory tasks as requested and support activities in the materials lab as Materials engineering Work Request are received.
• Order and stock lab consumables.
• Collect Parts, Perform Audits and Maintain Monthly/Quarterly Audit spreadsheets.
• Track work request system.
• Maintain all lab equipment.
• Support changeovers and adjustments at S450 crankshaft heat treat.
• Maintain coolant levels in all saws.
• Getting new consumables approved for use.

Skillsets:

• Excellent understanding of part prints, process instructions, and industry standards.
• Basic to moderate knowledge of ferrous machining processes and application to materials analysis.
• Basic knowledge of production and analytical equipment, and maintenance activities needed to produce a quality product.
• Solid mechanical aptitude and a strong drive to grow this skill set.
• Very good verbal and written communication skills.

Education:

• 2 year associate technical degree or equivalent work experience.
