Job summary

PlanIT Group in the United States is seeking a Material & Process Engineer to design and optimize thin film coatings for customer applications. You will develop technical solutions, collaborate with Program Management to plan budgets and schedules, and support operations from setup through production.

The role requires 5+ years of experience in thin film coating designs and sputtered films, knowledge of roll to roll deposition, and familiarity with design tools like TFCalc, OptiLayer, FilmStar,

Qualifications

  • 5+ years thin film coating designs and materials experience.
  • Experience with sputtered thin films design, processes, and equipment.
  • Roll to roll deposition and/or converting experience.
  • Familiar with thin film design tools: TFCalc, OptiLayer, FilmStar, FilmWizard.
  • Statistical methods and design of experiments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills.

USA Full Time/Contract On-Site Flexibility/Remote:

Material & Process Engineer

Job Description
  • Create new thin film coating designs for customer applications
  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
  • Collaborate with Program Management to create a project plan, budget, and schedule
  • Provide program/project work instructions to early career engineers and production technicians
  • Support operations team from equipment setup, calibration, through production
  • Order, analyze, and interpret in-process metrology data to determine process adjustments
  • Compare metrology data to customer specifications to evaluate fitness for use
  • Review customer requirements documents to support the technical customer proposal content
  • Meet with customers for collaborative discussions and design presentations
  • Promote a collaborative team environment
Basic Qualification
  • Experienced in thin film coating designs and materials
  • Experience with sputtered thin films design, processes, and equipment
  • Roll to roll deposition and/or converting experience
  • Familiar with thin film design and expertise in one or more thin film design tools: TFCalc, OptiLayer, FilmStar, FilmWizard
  • Statistical methods and design of experiments
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills
Desired Skills
  • Ability to create and present technical content for customer meetings
  • Comfortable taking calculated risks and learning from failures with a growth mindset
  • Planning and leading projects to meet established requirements
  • Programming experience and Visual Basic Macro Scripting or similar analysis software
  • Experience with Optical Spectrometer, SEM, XRF measurements and interpreting the results
  • Manager also open to seeing a level 2 Pay Range ($50-55)
Required experience
  • 5+ years thin film coating designs and materials experience (level 2: 1-2 years)
  • 5+ years experience with sputtered thin films deposition (level 2: general knowledge)
  • 2 years experience with roll to roll deposition and/or converting experience (level 2: no experience required)
