Job summary

Viable Engineering Solutions in Orlando, FL seeks a Materials Engineer to evaluate materials in new and service GT components, focusing on performance, reliability and compliance.

You will conduct failure analysis, chemical analysis, and microstructure assessment; prepare technical reports, define schedules and budgets, and support procurement and substitutions.

Qualifications

  • BS in Materials, Ceramics, Mechanical or related technical field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of failure analysis of parts made of superalloy and steel materials.
  • Knowledge of materials and metallurgy of steels superalloys and coatings and their chemistry, microstructure, heat treatments, and service degradation modes.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, physical, and environmental testing; materials data analysis.
  • Work experience in a manufacturing / lab environment preferred.
  • Understanding of gas turbine coatings is preferred.
