Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Labeling, receipt, retrieval, transferring, tracking, and inventory of specimens and materials.
  • Learn and use laboratory LIMS to maintain sample integrity.
  • Document discrepancies; communicate with appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality and cleanliness; support process improvements.
  • Adhere to SOPs and EH&S regulations; may assist training.

Job description

Primary Purpose:The responsibilities of a Material Coordinator I are to perform department related responsibilities in compliance with appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), or Good Clinical Practice (GCP) regulations (as appropriate) in support of various business unit operations, ensuring that services to both internal and external customers are provided in a timely manner or as agreed in service level agreements.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Performs any combination of department related tasks, including labeling, receipt, retrieval, transferring, tracking, organization and inventory of specimens and/or various consumable material via department applications and tools.Learn to use laboratory LIMS as appropriate to maintain sample and study integrity. • Accurate documentation interpretation and organization, as applicable to job duties.Document and communicate discrepancies to appropriate personnel and assists with problem solving.Maintain client and business confidentiality.Maintain cleanliness of laboratory space.Contributes to a cohesive team environment.Communicate professionally and effectively with internal and external customers.Supports process improvement initiatives.Ensures adherence to SOPs/policies and relevant Environmental, Health and Safety regulations.Devlop competency with environmental monitoring system, as appropriate.Maintains storage units, as required.Ensures company procedures are followed in relation to security and access to relevant areas and data or sample integrity.May assist with review, training and development of team members, relevant to grade.Performs other duties as assigned.Working Conditions:Physical requirements include, but not are limited to: standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.Repetitive motion via samples and computer terminal.High volume and high production environment.May handle potentially hazardous chemicals, infectious substances or materials, teratogens or carcinogens and radiolabeled test materials (as applicable).May work with –20ºC, -80ºC, and refrigerated specimens.Adhere to applicable safety procedures and Universal Precaution guidelines at all times.Work is performed in a laboratory environment and may be noisy.Work may require PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).Overtime and weekend work as required.Experience:High School diploma or equivalent with 0-2+ years*Significant work experience will be considered as a substitution for educationKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to use several software packages i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook.Able to work in a team as well as independently.Provide complete, consistent, and professional customer service via oral and written communication.Ability to work under pressure and timelines with frequently changing environment and complex information.Ability to take up challenges.Strong detail orientation.Strong prioritization and organizational skills.Preferred Qualifications:Experience within a Contract Research Organization, drug development, mass spectrometry, bioanalysis or a laboratory setting.
