Job summary

Quantinuum in Broomfield, Colorado is seeking a Material and Process Engineering Intern. The role integrates with scientists, engineers, and technicians to select and optimize materials and processes for quantum computer production.

The intern will document specifications, assist in BOM changes, and help evaluate materials for production use while participating in root-cause analysis of process issues. GPA 3.0+ and US citizenship or equivalent status are preferred.

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree with expected graduation after Dec 2027.
  • U.S. Person required due to contractual and national security rules.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, material management, and technicians to select materials and processes.

  • Evaluate materials for production application approval.
  • Assist in developing processes supporting BOM creation and change management.

Job description

We are seeking a Material and Process Engineering Internin ourBroomfield, COlocation.All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will berequiredtosubmitto a pre-employment drug test.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Works between scientists, engineers, material management, and technicians to select materials and processes based on mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties.
  • Participate in troubleshooting process issues including root cause analysis
  • Help document material specifications, process parameters, and test results
  • Evaluate materials for approval in applications to support production
  • Assist in developing processes that supports bill-of-material creation and change management.
  • Review the designs for material and process failure modes.
  • Research and evaluate new and existing processes, operations, and support systems for adaptation and/or improvements needed to manufacture the quantum computer.
YOU MUST HAVE:
  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree
  • Graduating on/after December 2027
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:
  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Experience manufacturing hardware as part of projects, internships, clubs, or hobbies.
  • Willingness for hands-on work.
  • CAD Experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Continuing enrollment in degree program upon completion of the internship
  • Basic understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with lab equipment and testing methods (electrical scopes, DMM, CMM)
  • Experience in system engineering, physics, lasers & optics, electrical engineering, or closely allied fields.
  • Basic understanding of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Individuals who are results-oriented and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done despite competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Validated academic excellence (3.0 GPA and higher)

$27 - $39 an hour

Compensation & Benefits:

The pay range for this role is $27 - $39 per hour. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate’s skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
