Job description

Drive smarter supply chain decisions in electronics manufacturing as a Materials Analyst

Turn data into action. Strengthen supplier performance. Keep production moving.

Location: Maple Grove, MN | Schedule: 8am to 5pm | Payrate: $30-$34/hour

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the electronics manufacturing industry to find a detail-oriented, analytical Materials Analyst who can make a measurable impact across procurement, materials management, supplier performance, and cost optimization.

In this role, you’ll be at the center of critical material and purchasing decisions—using data, market insight, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the right materials are available at the right cost and at the right time. If you thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoy solving complex problems, this is an opportunity to make your expertise count.

What You’ll Do

As a Materials Analyst, you will:

  • Validate quotes and support purchase orders: Review supplier quotes against customer Purchase Orders (POs) to confirm pricing accuracy and compliance. Investigate and resolve discrepancies involving supplier invoices and receipts.

  • Maintain material master data: Own the integrity of the Item Master file, ensuring material information remains accurate, complete, and updated on a quarterly basis.

  • Analyze BOM costs: Review Bills of Material (BOMs) for cost competitiveness and work closely with Engineering, Program Management, and Commodity Management to validate costed BOMs and ensure alignment with market conditions.

  • Support purchasing and procurement: Review manufacturing demand for parts and supplies, verify requisitions, prepare or recommend purchase orders, and monitor material availability to help optimize inventory investment.

  • Manage supplier relationships: Communicate with suppliers regarding material availability, pricing, shipping, and delivery schedules. Support supplier performance reviews and provide recommendations regarding supplier changes or disqualification when appropriate.

  • Analyze performance metrics: Consolidate, tabulate, and analyze supplier commitments and performance data to provide meaningful insight into procurement status and supplier effectiveness.

  • Coordinate across teams: Participate in kick‑off meetings and collaborate with site SCM buying teams, Commodity Management, Engineering, Finance, Program Management, and financial cost engineers to support bids and resolve serviceability or performance issues.

  • Conduct audits and ensure compliance: Perform regular cost‑variance audits to confirm procurement activities remain aligned with financial targets and regional strategic policies.

  • Adapt to evolving business needs: Take on additional responsibilities as required by the department and business environment.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to consolidate, manipulate, and analyze large volumes of data accurately.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general office applications.

  • Ability to quickly learn and effectively use ERP systems and department-specific applications.

  • Solid understanding of purchasing principles, procurement procedures, and material cost analysis.

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and supply-and-demand dynamics.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when reviewing requisitions, quotes, invoices, and material master data.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and solve problems efficiently.

  • Ability to build productive relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in electronics manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, materials management, or a related manufacturing environment.

  • Experience analyzing Bills of Material (BOMs) and material costs.

  • Experience working with ERP systems and purchasing/material management platforms.

  • Experience communicating and negotiating directly with suppliers.

  • Familiarity with supplier performance metrics, cost‑variance analysis, and procurement audits.

  • Experience collaborating with Engineering, Finance, Program Management, Commodity Management, or SCM teams.
