Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise material handlers & warehousers to insure that all quality and DPG standards are maintained.
  • Promote positive employee relations by motivating, training, evaluating and communicating with employees.
  • Coach and motivate employees with a focus on maintaining high morale while meeting or exceeding performance and quality expectations.
  • Insure that material and warehouse areas are free from hazards, clean (5S), and employees are working safely.
  • Attend priority meetings prior to and after the shift change to discuss schedule changes, “down” equipment, quality issues, material requirements, and other miscellaneous items.
  • Communicate with employees regarding job assignments, specific problems encountered on prior shift(s), quality and safety issues and general business events.
  • Meet with Material Handlers daily to review material and mix rations and address issues of concern.
  • Review shipping and receiving requirements to assure schedules are on target.
  • Assign and prioritize daily/weekly tasks to warehousers.
  • Communicate any material handling and/or warehousing issues to the Plant Manager or Shift supervisor as appropriate.
  • Attend all required shift change meetings in a timely manner.
  • Review and approve the hours worked by material handlers and warehousers on the shift on a daily basis.
  • Complete required material handling & warehousing reports.
  • Understand and be able to effectively use Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Perform any and all other work as assigned by supervisory personnel.
  • Ensure raw material and other supplies required for daily production is on hand and available.
  • Maintain and manage warehouse inventory (finished goods & raw material) in according to FIFO and corporate directives.
  • Conduct cycle count inventories and ensure the virtual inventory in the DPG ERP system is
  • Coordinate with corporate departments (PPIC, Purchasing, Customer Service, Logistic, etc.) to endure the shipping of finished goods and the receiving of raw material are timely and without errors.
  • Supervise the maintenance and operation of material handling equipment (blenders, grinders, vacuum pumps, vacuum conveying system, silos, railcar unloader, etc.).
  • Manage recycling program (plastic regrind, corrugated scrap, etc.) in order to maximize warehouse space as well as reduce cost (example: selling of regrind and corrugated scrap)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

In order to become, or remain qualified to perform, employee must be capable of successfully performing all of the following essential functions of the job.

  • Establish, with the approval of the Plant Manager, the overall goals and objectives to be met by each shift relating to material handling and warehousing functions.
  • Achieve or exceed established assigned material handling and warehousing objectives.
  • Achieve or exceed established objectives for the reduction of costs due to poor quality, shipping errors, material waste, and production downtime (from material handling).
  • Provide effective leadership in order to maximize employee contributions to attain established objectives

Overall objectives will be accomplished by regularly establishing reasonable, measurable and obtainable work goals; communicating these goals and their purpose to all involved employees; involving employees in determining methods of goal attainment and communicating results in a way to encourage positive work group performance and high morale.
