Job summary

RTX is seeking a Materials Testing Technician to perform destructive and non-destructive testing of materials, prepare samples, calibrate equipment, and analyze results. The role includes documenting findings, maintaining records, and providing guidance to teammates.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis using established methods.
• Perform equipment set up and calibration.
• Analyze samples using established methods and make minor modifications to procedures for unique materials.
• Accept or reject material based on specifications.
• Organize, report, and maintain records of analysis.
• Enter test results into various databases.
• Provide recommendations to technical leadership in developing new methods, techniques and equipment for testing materials.
• Provide guidance, coaching and training to employees in the job area.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as scheduled and troubleshoot most issues independently.
• Perform Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to CORE guidelines and perform CORE duties as required.
• Adhere to all EH&S guidelines, including wearing of required personal protective equipment.
• May be required to carry out tasks not listed within scope and skill level of this position in support of department objectives.
• Must be able to work hours outside of the normal shift.
• The position will work a schedule of Monday - Thursday (4x10) 6:00am - 4:00pm (6th shift).

• Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is $28.00 per hour. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skils.
