Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Material Technology professional to support FAB operations by ensuring incoming material quality and collaborating with global suppliers. You will manage supplier relationships, document material understanding, and drive quality improvements across processes.

The role emphasizes cradle-to-grave material documentation, cross-site coordination with SAS FAB engineering, and leadership in corrective actions, with standard 8D methodologies.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science.
  • >3 years of experience preferred.
  • Experience in fab manufacturing unit part (UP) process group.
  • Previous experience with semiconductor materials preferred.
  • Experience with global supply chains and multi-site quality process standardization is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with multiple material suppliers for quality, supply chain management, technical support, improvements, root cause investigations, and corrective/preventive action implementation.
  • Document cradle to grave understanding of materials including manufacturing processes and final use in FAB.
  • Work with suppliers and SAS FAB engineering team to identify and implement material quality improvements.
  • Drive material-related FAB investigations and understand raw material interactions with FAB processing.
  • Provide leadership toward material issue resolution (SPC, data analysis, 8D, corrective actions).
  • Collaborate with suppliers to identify and implement future improvements (roadmap) for 1x nodes and beyond.
  • Qualify new materials and changes including supplier process change notifications, project planning, and data analysis.
  • Work hours: 1st Shift (MON - FRI, 8 AM - 5 PM)

Position Summary

The mission of Material Technology is to provide Samsung FAB’s with the highest quality raw materials & analysis in the world. We do this by driving efforts in both management & development of our suppliers & materials used. Material Technology takes on responsibilities that seem beyond our scope to make things better for Samsung. We generate and analyze data. We solve problems and get results. We communicate and respond positively and constantly to our customer requests. You will be supporting Fab Operations by ensuring incoming material quality and interacting with material suppliers to follow procedures and satisfy SAS requirements.

Role and Responsibilities
Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:
  • Interaction and management of multiple material suppliers for quality, supply chain management, technical support, improvements, root cause investigations and corrective/preventive action implementation

  • Develop, understand and document cradle to grave understanding of materials including their manufacturing processes and final use in FAB.

  • Proactively identify and implement material quality improvements closely working with suppliers, counterparts in Korea, and SAS FAB engineering team.

  • Drive material related FAB investigations; provide understanding of raw material manufacturing and its interaction with FAB processing.

  • Management and leadership toward material issue resolution (SPC, data analysis, 8D development and corrective actions).

  • Work with suppliers to identify & implement future improvements (roadmap) keep ahead of quality needs for 1x nodes and beyond.

  • Qualifications of new materials and changes including supplier process change notifications, project planning, execution of qualification, data analysis.

  • Work hours: 1st Shift (MON - FRI, 8 AM - 5 PM)

Skills and Qualifications
Here’s what you’ll need:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or an equivalent discipline.

  • >3 years of experience preferred

  • Experience in fab manufacturing unit part (UP) process group.

  • Previous experience with semiconductor materials preferred.

  • Experience with global supply chains and multi-site quality process standardization is a plus.

The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 - $174,500. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
