Job summary

CRH's Oldcastle Infrastructure division is seeking a Material Technician to ensure machines receive the correct blend and type of raw materials for molded product production. You will weigh materials, operate shredders and Sortex equipment, and maintain material blenders to support efficient manufacturing.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, forklift certification, and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Forklift or powered hand jack experience preferred.
  • Lockout/Tagout authorization provided by OES.
  • Proficient with basic hand tools and power tools, including hand saw.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Weighs or measures raw materials to ensure accurate material blend.
  • Loads and operates shredder/granulator and Sortex equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on Sortex and shredder equipment.
  • Operates and monitors material blenders and communicates issues to supervisor.
  • Cleans blenders for material changeovers and transfers materials between areas.
  • Examines finished product for quality and adjusts blends as instructed.
  • Maintains preventive maintenance and cleaning of material blenders and vacuum units.
  • Supplies machines with materials and communicates critical information to staff.
  • Keeps work area clean and safe; removes waste and moves finished product.
  • Addresses material flow issues by unclogging hoses to ensure proper amounts.
  • Follows Visual Operating Procedures (VOPs).

Job description

Job Summary

The Material Technician ensures machines receive the appropriate amount, blend, and type of raw materials and components for the production of OES molded products.

Job Responsibilities
  • Weighs or measures raw materials to ensure an accurate material blend in accordance with product specifications
  • Loads and operates shredder/granulator and Sortex equipment, using plant scrap and purchased material
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks on Sortex and shredder equipment (filter cleaning, glass cleaning, etc.)
  • Operates and monitors material blenders and quickly identifies and communicates problems to a supervisor
  • Cleans blenders for material changeovers
  • Transfers raw material and product components between work areas and ensures each machine receives the appropriate amount to complete production targets
  • Examines finished product for adherence to quality standards and adjusts material blends as instructed by the process technician or production specifications
  • Conducts routine preventative maintenance and cleaning of material blenders and vacuum units to ensure machine functionality
  • Supplies machines with sufficient materials and communicates critical material and production information to incoming personnel
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including removal of empty boxes and banding and moving finished product as required
  • Addresses material flow issues by unclogging or replacing material hoses to ensure all machines receive the appropriate amount of material
  • Reviews and follows Visual Operating Procedures (VOPs) for standard tasks
Job Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience with a forklift or powered hand jack, preferred
  • Prior experience with raw material handling in a manufacturing environment is desirable
  • Forklift or Hand jack Certification (provided by OES)
  • Lockout/Tagout authorization (provided by OES)
  • Proficient with basic hand tools and power tools, including hand saw
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
