Job summary

Westlake Royal Building Products is seeking a Material Technician to support production operations in Lenexa, KS. The role includes rotating shifts and hands-on duties with material handling, quality checks, and changeovers.

You will train and relieve operators, perform color changes, and help ensure smooth production flow. Ideal candidates are comfortable with physical work, can read work orders, and maintain accurate records.

  • Reads work orders to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Performs general material handling and record-keeping tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in material movement and storage per work orders.
  • Support lead during absence and manage color changes and mold changeovers.
  • Read work orders to identify materials and containers for movement.
  • Record units moved on daily production sheets.
  • Operate industrial lift or forklift as needed.
  • Maintain clean work area and assist with equipment maintenance.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Trains and relieves machine operators as needed
  • Fills in for the Lead during their absence, including performing color changes, quality checks, and become familiar with mold changeovers
  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved
  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators
  • Dumps by hand materials such as colors or plastic, into machine hoppers or move product by hand onto scrap pallets
  • Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products
  • Reads spread sheets to determine specific material requirements at changeovers
  • Performs necessary maintenance and repair on some equipment used
  • Responsible for performing the physical tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, and distributing of products, materials, parts, supplies and equipment
  • Prepares and maintains records of product movement
  • Pulls raw materials and finish product from various locations for manufacturing orders
