Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards in Houma, LA is seeking a Material Specialist to locate and move materials from the warehouse to storage areas and between work areas of the facility. You will support production by ensuring material availability and proper handling.

Requirements include forklift certification, a valid driver’s license, basic computer skills, and strong communication. Six months of similar experience is preferred; overhead crane experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 6 months of experience in a similar role preferred.
• Forklift certification required.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Familiar with measuring devices and basic computer skills.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Reviews production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine types, quantities, and availability of required materials.
• Confers with department supervisors to determine materials overdue and to inform them of location, availability, and the condition of the materials.
• Will load and unload materials to and from delivery trucks, either internal or external.
• Will receive, uncrate, and inspect materials received at the Warehouse.
• Performs physical inventory counts and enter counts in inventory management software.
• Locates and moves materials distributed and on hand.
• Compares work ticket specifications with material prior to loading truck at warehouse.
