Qualifications

Job description

Job Summary

The City of St. Peters is seeking a skilled MRF Maintenance Technician to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment, vehicles, buildings, and building systems at our Material Recovery Facility (MRF). This hands-on role ensures the efficiency, safety, and reliability of specialized waste management and recycling equipment.

Normal Shift: Mon-Fri; 7:00am-3:30pm (Some weekends will be required)

Key Responsibilities

  1. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair machinery, conveyor belt systems, motor controls, PLCs and VFDs, safety interlocks and other specialized equipment.
  2. Perform routine and preventative maintenance to meet City and manufacturer specifications.
  3. Maintain and repair plumbing, electrical, heating, and air conditioning systems.
  4. Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner.
  5. Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work.
  6. Manage parts inventory and ensure necessary supplies are on hand.
  7. Conduct general building maintenance, including janitorial tasks.
  8. Operate hand tools, motorized power equipment, and electronic test devices.
  9. Assist with equipment installation, renovation projects, and building remodeling.
  10. Perform welding, fabrication, and other mechanical repairs as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
  2. High School graduate or GED certificate and four (4) years of applicable experience in the maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles.
  3. Class "B" CDL valid in the state of Missouri or obtain within 120 days of employment.
  4. A commercial driver's instruction permit (CDIP) must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
  5. Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 lbs.
  6. Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
