Hitachi Global Air Power in Michigan City, Indiana, is seeking a Material Processor to ensure safe, timely, and accurate processing of materials through the supply chain—from receipt through stocking to assembly line delivery.

You will perform proper receipt, disposition, and stocking of incoming materials; maintain cycle counts and inventory accuracy; support shipments; and strictly follow safety and quality procedures to sustain reliable production.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • No prior material handling experience is required; 2+ years preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment.
  • Proficient computer literacy for material transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Receipt, disposition, and stocking of incoming materials.
  • Timely replenishment and stocking for production processes.
  • Timely removal and proper disposal of production scrap and waste.
  • Internal Cycle Counting/Inventory Management – ensure 98% accuracy.
  • Support finished goods shipment, movement, and stocking for B1 inventory.
  • Adhere strictly to safety and quality procedures.

Summary of the position:

The primary responsibility of a Material Processor is the safe, timely, and accurate processing of materials through the supply chain utilizing various equipment, as necessary. This includes system transactions and physical movement of material from receipt, to stocking, and to assembly line delivery.

This position is located at the Hitachi Global Air Power manufacturing plant in Michigan City, Indiana, and reports to the Area Supervisor.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Proper receipt, disposition, and stocking of incoming materials
  • Timely replenishment and stocking of materials for production processes
  • Timely removal and proper disposal of production scrap and waste
  • Internal Cycle Counting/Inventory Management – conduct all system transactions accurately to reach inventory accuracy targets of 98%
  • Support finished goods shipment, movement, and stocking for B1 inventory
  • Strict adherence to safety and quality procedures in all activities performed
Qualifications:
Education:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
Professional experience:
  • No prior material handling experience is required. Two or more years of material handling experience in a manufacturing/production environment is preferred
  • Ability to safely and proficiently utilize material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, fork trucks, and cranes to move large and bulky loads.
  • Ability to pass fork truck driving test
  • Demonstrate computer literacy - role requires using computers, tablets, scanners, etc. to accurately transact material throughout the process
Key behaviors:
  • Personal attributes to include attention to detail, punctuality and adaptability as well as capacity to cross train.
  • Lifting up to 35 lbs.
  • Lifting over 35 lbs. requires a lifting device, crane, or assistance from another associate.
  • Standing and walking minimum of 8 hours.
  • Must be able to bend/stoop, squat/crouch, kneel and twist.
