Job Description

We are seeking a Material Process Engineer / Principal Material Process Engineer for our Defense Systems division, supporting the Sentinel program. This role is based in Huntsville, AL or Manhattan Beach, CA.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with design engineers on non-metallic materials selection and application, including environmental coatings, adhesives, sealants, and composites.
  • Create specifications and source control documents to meet program requirements.
  • Lead qualifications of new materials, components, processes, and aging studies to ensure service life requirements.
  • Work with manufacturing and subcontractors to resolve qualification, producibility, and testing issues related to non-metallic parts.
  • Manage Bill-of-Materials, new part requests, and product data in PLM systems.
  • Support supply chain activities, including procurement and supplier selection.
  • Tailor and allocate non-metallic requirements across system, subsystem, and unit levels.
  • Assist subcontractors with data interpretation and review of data requirements lists.

Qualifications
Material Process Engineer Level (T02):
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM from an accredited university and 2 years of experience (or none with a Master's).
Principal Material Process Engineer Level (T03):
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, or 3 with a Master's, or 4 with a PhD.
Minimum Requirements for Both Levels:
  • US citizenship with an active DoD Secret clearance within the last 6 years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in materials testing, qualification, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with component data/drawings and application requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of accelerated aging methodologies like Arrhenius.
  • Familiarity with MIL standards related to missile programs and aerospace systems.
  • Experience in failure analysis and component qualification processes.
  • Active DOD Top-Secret clearance.
Compensation

Salary ranges from $77,600 to $150,500, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits may include overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, and long-term incentives.
