General Description Of Position
The primary responsibility for a Material Prep Operator is to support the mission and Core Values of Hoosier Gasket by prepping material for production runs on a daily and timely basis. To assure that all production orders are prepped and processed to press on time for production. Assuring customer demands and quality are being met according to HGC guidelines.
- Assuring all factory orders are prepped down and to press on time.
- Assuring that correct material and thickness are pulled according to the order.
- Assuring that materials are being prepped down to the correct measurements required on the factory order by using a tape measure to verify the measurements.
- Assure thickness is being checked before, during and after prepping stages and according to HGC Sampling Table for Lot Acceptance.
- Constantly monitor for quality results, paying attention to detail and reporting any defects.
- Assuring that materials are being prepped down for the correct Press Areas and moved to that area.
- Read and use Calibers, Micrometers, Tape measures and Durometers.
- Learn different materials and thickness as well as cutting instructions for each press bank.
- Pull materials out and into Inventory racks.
- Logging materials in and out of Inventory log books.
- Set-up different material prep machines, such as, Power Knives, Sheeter, Slitter, and PSA table.
- Operate forklifts to deliver cut material to press areas.
- Follow written and verbal directions.
- Correctly fill out paperwork for each run.
- Ensure work area is clean and free of obstructions.
- Follow safety guidelines at all times.
- Interacting and working well with co-workers and management.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks and performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.

Education And Experience
High School diploma or GED preferred but not required. Previous experience a plus. Must be able to read a tape measure and have some knowledge of Calipers, Micrometers and Durometers. 1-2 years’ machine and forklift experience a plus. A strong willingness to learn new processes and procedures will help the individual be successful at HGC.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR/USE OF FUNDS, PROPERTY AND EQUIPMENT
This position will be using various equipment such as forklifts, power knives, Slitter, Sheeter and other material prep machines, as well as, tools related to the production process, making person responsible for following HGC guidelines etc.
Communication Skills
The ability to effectively present information to new and existing employees in a positive respectful manner; communicate effectively and professionally with HGC management, customers, auditors, etc. Ability to write and record data clearly and accurately.
Mathematical Skills
Basic math skills are required.

Problem-solving and creative thinking are needed to solve issues as they arise. Apply HGC processes to identify defective products, determine root cause and corrective measures.

EMPLOYEE CONTACT
The person in this role will interact on a daily basis with most Hoosier Gasket personnel from entry level to ownership. Each requires that judgment, professionalism and tact in presentation be used to obtain the cooperation and/or approval all team members involved.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED The person in this role is supervised by the Department Lead. They will work with all other departments, Area Managers and the Operation Manager.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES The person in this role will be consistently required to: bend/crouch, carry objects, climb, handle/manipulate objects, lift (50 lbs maximum) kneel, push/pull, engage rapid reflex movements (such as catching parts from a press), reach, sit, standing for long periods of time, walking and rotating.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Fast paced, deadline oriented manufacturing plant and office. The person will be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, fumes, odors, chemicals and other airborne particles. They will use heavy machinery and/or hand or power tools. Will work with or near dry ice, CO2 Gas, and/or silicone. Wear protective clothing/equipment. May work in areas of extreme heat.
