Job summary

Flex is seeking a Material Planning Analyst in Austin, TX to manage materials data, forecast demand, and support manufacturing teams.

You will partner with Engineering, Purchasing, and Finance to optimize inventory, monitor supplier performance, and drive cost reductions while maintaining data accuracy.

The role requires 5 years of experience and advanced Excel/PowerPoint skills; experience in electronics manufacturing is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in materials or related field.
• Experience in Materials Planning in manufacturing.
• Electronics manufacturing background preferred.
• Expert level in Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain demand, consumption, and spend forecasting models.
• Manage material lifecycle: inventory accuracy, shelf-life, cycle counts.
• Validate consumption assumptions with Engineering and stakeholders.
• Provide forecasting, spend, inventory, and performance reports to Finance and Operations.
• Monitor material availability and supplier performance; communicate constraints.
• Drive shortage mitigation: expediting, supplier coordination, updates.
• Identify opportunities to reduce excess inventory and write-offs.
• Collaborate with Purchasing and Supply Chain to ensure timely procurement.
• Develop planning processes, instructions, and reporting standards.
• Lead cost reduction and continuous improvement in material planning.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Material Planning Analyst located in Austin TX.

Reporting to the Director, Materials Planning the Material Planning Analyst role involves maintaining materials/purchasing data, supplying data and information to other production departments, coordinating contracts, maintaining Certificates of Conformance for all suppliers, and creating and maintaining outsource parts schedules.

What you’ll do:

• Develop, maintain, and update demand, consumption, and spend forecasting models for assigned programs and business segments.
• Manage material lifecycle activities including inventory accuracy, shelf-life monitoring, expiration control, and cycle count coordination.
• Validate consumption assumptions with Engineering and other stakeholders to improve forecast accuracy and planning effectiveness.
• Provide regular forecasting, spend, inventory, and performance reports to Finance, Operations, and business stakeholders.
• Monitor material availability, supplier performance, and potential supply risks; communicate constraints and recovery plans promptly.
• Drive shortage mitigation activities, including expediting materials, coordinating with suppliers, and providing stakeholder updates.
• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce excess inventory, scrap, and write-offs through effective inventory optimization strategies.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Supply Chain, and sourcing teams to ensure timely material procurement, deliveries, and cost management.
• Develop and maintain planning processes, work instructions, and reporting standards while overseeing support teams to ensure data accuracy and process compliance.
• Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives related to material planning, forecasting accuracy, inventory management, and supply continuity, and present key metrics during management reviews.

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of experience in materials or related field.
• Experience in Materials Planning in Manufacturing
• Background in Electronics Manufacturing Industry ideal
• Expert level in Excel, PowerPoint
• Experience in forecasting, spend, inventory, and performance reports to Finance, Operations and cost negotiations
• Strong knowledge in customer interfacing
