Job summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) seeks a skilled Material Planner for the Material Control group in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The role covers planning support for research and production projects, including scheduling, budgeting, reporting, expediting and purchasing under supervision.

Responsibilities include tracking progress, analyzing variances, interfacing with Purchasing, Contracts, Finance and QA, and guiding project work plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Planning, Engineering, Production Control or related discipline and 6+ years planning experience.
• Strong understanding of planning principles and ability to apply advanced planning tools and techniques.
• Ability to balance external and internal customer requirements and communicate concepts in an evolving environment.
• Proven organizational skills to manage work phases and deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Plan administration for tasks on large projects including scheduling, budgeting, performance monitoring and purchasing under supervision.
• Provide planning administration across tasks with scheduling, budgeting, analysis, reporting and expediting.
• Inform management of schedule or fiscal problems; analyze variances and allocate manpower resources.
• Develop project organization, schedules, budgets, reporting and work breakdown structures with PM leadership.
• Interface with Purchasing, Contracts, Finance, QA to collect data and generate reports; coordinate with outside fabricators.
• May provide work directions to staff and support personnel.
• Adhere to safety rules and company policies; operate on a 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off.
