Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and refine short- and long-term materials forecasts based on production schedules, maintenance, and historical usage.

  • Monitor and manage inventory to prevent shortages and minimize excess/obsolete inventory.
  • Ensure accurate materials master data (lead times, MOQ, attributes) in NetSuite.
  • Coordinate with Procurement to manage lead times, delivery schedules, and supply risks for critical parts.
  • Develop dashboards and KPIs to monitor materials health and forecast accuracy.

As a Senior Staff Materials Planner in the Austin, TX semiconductor wafer manufacturing facility you will be responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted availability of parts and materials required to support operations. This role oversees end‑to‑end planning activities including demand forecasting, inventory optimization, supplier coordination of orders, and resolution of materials‑related issues. The Senior Materials Planner works cross‑functionally with Procurement, Production, Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Logistics to maintain optimal inventory levels while meeting cost, quality, and delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and refine short‑and long‑term materials forecasts based on production schedules, equipment maintenance plans, engineering change notices, and historical consumption.
  • Analyze demand variability and risk to determine appropriate safety stock levels for critical semiconductor parts and consumables.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages and minimize excess/obsolete inventory.
  • Ensure accurate materials master data (lead times, MOQ, part attributes, etc.) in NetSuite.
  • Partner with Procurement to manage lead times, delivery schedules, and supply risks for high‑criticality semiconductor parts.
  • Serve as the escalation point for materials shortages impacting manufacturing, tool uptime, or customer commitments.
  • Coordinate expedited shipments, alternate sourcing, or material substitutions when required.
  • Identify and implement improvements in planning processes, analytics, and ERP utilization.
  • Develop dashboards and KPIs to monitor materials health, forecast accuracy, and planner performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 10+ years of materials planning or supply chain experience in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP platforms
  • Advanced skills in data analytics, forecasting, and inventory modeling.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate, diagnose, and resolve supply risks within highly complex, fast‑paced semiconductor supply chains through advanced analytics, cross‑functional coordination, and proactive mitigation strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of implementing durable solutions that prevent recurrence, maintain operational continuity, and support aggressive production and technology roadmap objectives
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and operational teams.
  • Prior experience with ERP integration and systematic resolution of data issues.
  • Cross-functional team coordination
  • Risk identification and mitigation
  • Attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Works on challenging supply problems requiring judgement and communication with technical experts to resolve issues
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as FMEA, 8D and participating in audits
