Job summary

Benchmade Knife Company, Inc. is seeking a Materials Handling Technician in Oregon City to pull, pack and prepare finished goods for shipment, refill inventory, and receive products into the warehouse.

You will use Syspro MRP to manage inventory, perform cycle counts, maintain safety and cleanliness, and support KPI reporting in a production environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent or current enrollment.
• Experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, manufacturing, or related field preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with MRP systems and inventory transactions.

Job description

Material Handling Technician role is responsible for pulling, packing and preparing finished good for final shipping to customers; refilling product bins with incoming inventory; and receiving product into the warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory electronically using Syspro MRP system (and other computer applications).
• Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials in stock; records location of inventory.
• Perform cycle counts of inventory.
• Provides excellent service to customers (internal stakeholders) and vendors.
• Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; and able to identify when lock out, tag out is appropriate.
• Display keen awareness to safety guidelines, procedures, and policies; and ability to identify and report safety concerns.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Support on-going reporting of key performance metrics.
• Display job specific competency as defined by training proficiency matrixes.
• Contributes ideas on ways to improve or optimize warehousing procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED equivalent, or current enrollment in high school.
• Experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Equivalent education, training, or experience will be considered.
• Able to work in a manufacturing environment (exposure to noise, coolants, abrasives, heat, cold, adhesives, automated and manual machinery) wearing PPE (safety glasses, safety shoes, and Kevlar gloves).
• Familiarity with MRP systems and performing inventory transactions.
• Basic understanding of inventory controls and cycle counting.
• Strong computer and data entry skills required (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Good verbal and written communication skills, with co-workers, internal customers and vendors.
• Demonstrate great attendance, punctuality, and time sensitivity.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and multi-task accurately.
• Quality-conscious individual with excellent attention to detail.
• Must be able to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines.
• Works well in a collaborative and positive team environment.

Working Conditions

Working Environment: Production floor.

Physical Demands

• Repetitively lifting up to 50 lbs; and standing, bending, and walking for long periods of time.

Travel Requirements

• As needed, less than 5% of the time.
