Job summary

Georg-Fischer is seeking a Material Handling Supervisor to oversee warehouse operations, material movements, and inventory accuracy to meet production schedules and customer requirements.

You will lead a team, partner with logistics and supply chain, and drive safety, quality and continuous improvement initiatives across the facility. Strong ERP and SAP experience is preferred, with a focus on efficiency and cost reduction.

  • Lean manufacturing exposure including 6S and ISO standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set daily, weekly and monthly objectives for the team.
  • Coordinate with operations and supply chain to ensure timely material movement.
  • Coach and train team members; hire warehouse staff as needed.
  • Maintain safety, quality and OSHA/EHS compliance in the warehouse.
  • Generate periodic KPI reports and support process improvements.

Job description

The Material Handling Supervisor is responsible for the safety, quality and daily operations for the warehouse and material handling organization including EHS compliance, process improvement and inventory management for the shipping and material handling functions.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Responsible for setting daily, weekly, monthly objectives for team.Work directly with operations and logistic management and supply chain teams to ensure timely and accurate material movements to meet production schedules and customer requirements.Monitor employee output and engagement, overseeing and coaching team members, training new employees and support resolution of logistical operation constraints.Responsible to maintain a safe working environment for all employeesSet goals with each direct and indirect report that is based on the annual goals developed by the logistics planAssist with the interviewing and hiring process of warehouse and shipping employeesEnsure that logistics team members are meeting or exceeding the material movement and inventory accuracy goals on a weekly basisEnsure that all issues related to any type of equipment and/or tools are documented and submitted to the appropriate peopleParticipate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives including a 6S system throughout the warehouse areaAdhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OSHAS 18001 certification requirementsSupport and manage the Cost Reduction effort to continually reduce product manufacturing costsParticipate and support all improvement methods used to improve logistics and operationsInitiate and maintain periodic reporting to upper Management on various metrics and KPIsInteract and manage transfer and shipping orders within ERP and Process Weaver systemRequired Skills/Abilities:Must have a good understanding of logistics, operations, team behavior and managementA forward and long-range strategic thinker capable of looking out for 2 years to plan for long-term complex projects to improve the companyGood communications skills with a key to listening, striving to be viewed as a person who treats all people with respect and fairnessA clear understanding of how your decisions affect the company’s stability and profitabilityKnowledge and expertise in SAP or similar ERP systemProven proficiency in Microsoft Office programsEducation and Experience:Supervising experience or at least 5 years' experience in an integrated material handling or shipping environment, having proficiency in all aspects of warehouse operationsMinimum 2 years' leadership experience in logistics execution and transportation planningWorking Conditions / Physical Requirements:Typical factory environment with exposure to heat in production areasHearing, sight and foot protection requiredCapable of viewing computer information for extended timesAble to walk, stretch, bend, stoop, squat and twist repeatedly during a shift without assistanceEye-hand coordination and manual dexterity required with fine motor skillsAbility to read and follow instructions, blueprints communicate clearly to various levels of personnel and coworkersPlease submit your application via the ‘Apply’ button.
