Job summary

Douglas Dynamics, Inc. in Madison Heights, MI is seeking a Material Handler to support fabrication, welding, and assembly cells. You will stock and replenish parts, maintain finished part supermarkets, and coordinate replenishment to meet production needs in a team environment.

This role requires forklift and aerial lift platform licensing, basic computer skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Starting pay is $19.00 per hour with a comprehensive benefits package and growth

Qualifications

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks with little supervision.
  • Basic Computer Skills Required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach above shoulders and outward.
  • Ability to bend, squat and crawl.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must obtain and maintain forklift license and aerial lift platform license.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of duties in support of the company’s fabrication, welding, and assembly cells.
  • Stock FIFO and kitted carts with parts and quantities based on level loaded production schedule.
  • Restock fabricated and purchased parts in finished part supermarket.
  • Maintain organization and accuracy of finished parts supermarkets.
  • Coordinate replenishment activities to support production needs.
  • Operate a hi-lo (forklift) as needed to move, stock, or replenish materials.
  • Performs tasks to JIs as trained.
  • Maintains safe working conditions and 5S.
  • Compliance with regulations, procedures, and policies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Participate in company training programs.
  • Works effectively in a team environment.
  • Reports packaging problems, piece part abnormalities/nonconformance, and unusual workplace events to BU lead person or supervisor.
  • Uses a variety of unpowered and powered material handling equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

THE ROLE

We are seeking Material Handlers to join our team and help drive our continued success. This role plays an important part in supporting our customers, strengthening our business, and contributing to the long-term growth of Douglas Dynamics.

How You Will Contribute

Performs a variety of duties in support of the company’s fabrication, welding, and assembly cells. Duties include but not limited to stocking FIFO and kitted carts with parts in required quantities based on level loaded production schedule, restock fabricated and purchased parts in finished part supermarket, maintain finished part supermarkets, coordinate replenishment, and communicate potential shortages with Buyer/Planner, perform daily 5S maintenance, other duties as assigned.
