Job summary

A leading manufacturer of work truck equipment is seeking Operators for their Madison Heights facility. In this role, you will perform machine operations, quality checks, and general maintenance. You will also operate lasers and press brakes while ensuring safety and quality standards. Successful candidates will have basic math skills and the ability to read blueprints. Starting pay is $19.00 per hour with competitive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach above shoulders and outward, bend, squat and crawl.
  • Basic knowledge of machine operations and safety protocols required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of machine operations, material handling, quality checks, and light assembly.
  • Operate and set up lasers, press brakes, and finishing equipment.
  • Maintain safety and quality in the production process.

Skills

Basic math skills

Schedule

Operators will work Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and also on Fridays from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. when overtime is required.

How You Will Contribute

Operator performs a variety of machine operations, material handling, quality checks, light assembly, and general maintenance in the Fabrication department. Operators will communicate with their team lead regarding safety, quality, and delivery opportunities daily. Periodically work overtime and/or alternate shifts to meet the production demands. Operators will be expected to maintain safety, quality, and delivery at or above the expected level, actively participate in team activities, training, the company’s 5‑S activities and follow Douglas Dynamics rules regarding work and conduct.

How You'll Make a Difference
  • Operate and set up lasers (CO2 and fiber), press brakes, and finishing equipment to cut, bend, and finish metal parts per specifications.
  • Operate assigned equipment, identify and correct problems as they occur.
  • Run test cycles and do quality audits to maintain accuracy and quality.
  • Maintain safety, quality, and throughput as required.
  • Perform timely upkeep of equipment and programs.
  • Communicate with other departments/shifts daily.
  • Keep work area, tools, material, and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Work in a safe manner and report unsafe conditions as required.
  • Track use of consumables and record production data daily.
  • Willingness to operate all equipment in the Fab business unit after completing equipment training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
