Job Statement

The Material Handler will be responsible for the setup of mill fixtures on Numerically Controlled Milling Machines. Working closely with Machine Operators and Manufacturing support personnel, they will properly affix, align, and load mill fixtures onto machine tables. They will also be responsible for loading material, forgings, and partially machined workpieces onto these fixtures according to setup instructions.

Essential Functions

The duties include:

• Preparing machine tables for mill fixtures
• Preparing mill fixtures for placement onto machine tables
• Performing minor maintenance on mill fixtures (applying oil, repairing threads, etc.)
• Operating overhead cranes and selecting appropriate slings or lifting devices
• Operating milling machines as needed to support setup functions
• Selecting and applying clamps, bolts, vacuum pumps, etc.
• Removing and replacing parts and fixtures
• Performing other tasks as assigned by supervision

Specifications

The candidate must demonstrate:

• Forklift experience
• At least 2 years of related machine shop experience
• Familiarity with tools like indicators, micrometers, calipers, clamps, slings, overhead cranes, forklifts, deburring tools, cutters, grinders, etc.
• Ability to read setup instructions in English
• Physical ability to stoop, kneel, climb, bend, and lift objects up to 30 lbs., carrying them 20 ft.
• Basic math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing)
