Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking a Material Controller I in the Global Utility Division to maintain workflow in production areas by handling Valmont materials and products. You will ensure safe, accurate movement and documentation to support operations.

The role requires forklift and crane certification and the ability to work in a high-volume environment while communicating effectively with the team and maintaining strict safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be forklift and crane certified.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication with coworkers and team.
  • High safety awareness at all times.
  • Ability to troubleshoot with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated timeliness to deliver on-time results.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, issue, and physically move materials and products safely and efficiently.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation of material movement.
  • Distribute materials to production to meet production needs.
  • Operate forklifts and overhead crane as required.
  • Interpret production plans and shipping orders to determine material flow.
  • Count inventory and reconcile cycle discrepancies.
  • Uphold safety policies and practices.

Training will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Upon successful completion of training will transition to Weekend Day Shift.

This position will work Weekend Shift, 12 hour shifts, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There will be a 4 hour attendance pay for completion of 36 hours.

  • Receive, issue, and physically move Valmont materials and products in a safe and efficient manner

  • Provide accurate and timely documentation of material and product movement

  • Provide accurate and timely distribution of materials to production to meet production needs.

  • Operate various types of material handling equipment including forklifts and overhead crane

  • Interpret production plans and shipping orders to provide the require levels of material handling and shipping

  • Count material inventory and reconcile inventory cycle discrepancies

  • Demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures

What it takes
Required Qualifications
  • Must be able to be forklift and crane certified

  • The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment

  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner

  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times

  • The ability to work through problems with minimum amount of assistance from the leadperson or supervisor

  • The ability to work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time result without errors

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • One year of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment

  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions

  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues

  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
