Job summary

FedEx is seeking a material handler to operate equipment safely for moving packages and heavy freight at the Richmond, VA location. You will assist in pallet buildup/breakdown and liaise with ULD repair vendors as needed.

The role requires physical capability, the ability to work in all weather, and compliance with training requirements. This is a part-time position with varying shifts and pay that reflects experience and location.

Qualifications

• Able to lift 50 lbs from ground to chest level.
• Able to walk and stand for designated work hours.
• Able to bend and squat for designated work hours.
• Able to maneuver packages above 50 lbs with assistive devices or partner.
• Able to work in all weather conditions at location.
• Able to climb stairs and ladders if required.
• Must successfully complete basic and recurrency training.
• Able to communicate timel y and effectively in a noisy operations environment.

Job Duties

Assists in the buildup/breakdown of pallets containing heavyweight freight. Serves as liaison between company and ULD repair vendor, as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance from the ground to chest level and to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 lbs. using appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person.
• Able to walk and stand for designated work hours.
• Able to bend and squat for designated work hours.
• Able to maneuver packages above shoulder level.
• Ability to maneuver packages in enclosed spaces and stack packages above one’s head if required at location.
• Able to work in all weather conditions if required at work location.
• Able to climb stairs and ladders if required at work location.
• Able to successfully complete all basic and re-currency training.
• The ability to communicate both timely and effectively, in a noisy operations environment, is required.

Job Conditions

Non-covered safety sensitive position, a drug screen is required. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Since operating motorized conveyances is required in this job, employee must possess a valid driver's license.

Pay Range

$21.91/hr - $25.97/hr

Full-time employees are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, and/or vision coverage and participate in Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) on their date of hire. Part-time employees who have completed 91 days of employment and worked an average of at least 17 hours per week are also eligible for these benefits. Employees may receive up to $5,250 per calendar year in educational assistance for tuition and other approved education expenses after completing 90 continuous days of employment.

Part-Time Material handlers-Shift1-Early Morning: Mon–Sat, 5:00 AM – 11:00 AM & Shift2: Evening: Mon–Fri, 3:00PM – 9:00PM. Base Pay: $21.91/hour. Requirements: Valid driver’s license and successful drug test.
