Job summary

kdc/one Northern Labs in Manitowoc, Wisconsin is seeking a Material Handler for the 2nd shift to move materials, load and unload trucks, and support warehouse operations.

You will use forklift and computer systems to track inventory, perform counts, and ensure accurate material flow while following safety procedures. A high school diploma is required; forklift certification will be obtained upon hire. Warehouse experience and basic English/math skills are a plus.

Qualifications

Job Title: Material Handler

Reports To: SC Manager, Shipping Supervisor, Warehouse Shift Leader

Description / Scope / Mission

Responsible for material movements within Warehouse Department including loading trucks, unloading trucks or internal movements between Production and storage locations.

Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities
  • Unload trucks.
  • Load trucks.
  • Move materials to and from bin locations.
  • Access computer to enter or view inventory movements.
  • Perform physical counts of inventory.
  • Rotation of stock as needed.
  • Adhere to established procedures for identifying/marking materials.
  • Some positions required to take samples of raw materials for quality purposes.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor.
MARGINAL JOB DUTIES
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area.
  • Change forklift batteries as required.
  • Exercise safe material handling techniques.
  • Notify supervisor of any mechanical issues or failures.
Education / Certification / Qualifications / Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Experience
  • Some warehouse experience a plus.
  • Basic computer skills and math skills.
  • Read, write and speak basic English language
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
  • Forklift certification or obtain upon hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or touch; reach above shoulders; and talk or hear up to 1/3 of the time.
  • Use foot/feet to operate machine 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
  • Sit 2/3 and more of the time.
  • Up to 50 pounds to be lifted or force to be exerted up to 1/3 of the time, including push/pullmotion.
  • Transfer of boxes/bags from one pallet to another, or from trailer to pallet.
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
  • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
  • Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
  • Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point).
  • Dept perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).
  • Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED
  • Forklift 2/3 and more of the time.
  • Computer, scale and drum handlers up to 1/3 of the time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PPE REQUIRED
  • Work near moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outdoor weather conditions up to 1/3 of the time.
  • Safety (steel-toe) shoes required.
  • Safety glasses required.
  • Miscellaneous PPE as required.
  • Gloves and respirators required for samplers
