Job summary

GTI Fabrication in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Warehouse Material Handler to move materials safely and efficiently in the warehouse and production support areas, ensuring accurate inventory and organized locations.

You will work with Warehouse, Production, Receiving, and Inventory Control, perform receiving, putaway, kitting, cycle counts, and produce timely material movement; the role requires attention to detail, ability to read tickets and BOMs, and willingness to work 2nd shift with overtime

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1–2 years warehouse or distribution experience preferred.
• Experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks preferred.
• Ability to read part numbers, labels, pick tickets, work orders, and BOMs.
• Basic math and counting accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail and inventory accuracy.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to overtime when required.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Receives, unloads, locates, moves, stores, stages, and transfers raw materials, components, and finished goods accurately and in a timely manner.
• Opens containers, counts or weighs materials as required, and verifies part numbers, quantities, units of measure, labels, and storage locations.
• Picks, stages, and delivers materials according to pick tickets, work orders, BOMs, and warehouse material requests.
• Supports production by assisting with movement or lifting of materials, replenishing work areas, staging kits, delivering materials, and returning unused material to designated locations.
• Accurately records material receipts, issues, transfers, returns, and other inventory transactions in the ERP system.
• Identifies and reports damaged materials, shortages, quantity discrepancies, labeling issues, and incorrect locations.
• Maintains proper material identification, labeling, stacking, storage, and organization throughout the warehouse.
• Safely operates forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, order pickers, hand trucks, and other material-handling equipment.
• Maintains clean, organized, and safe warehouse, staging, storage, and work areas.
• Follows inventory-control procedures, quality requirements, company policies, and safety practices.
• Communicates shortages or issues affecting production and participates in continuous improvement.
• Performs other warehouse and material-handling duties as required.

Overview

The Warehouse Material Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of materials throughout the warehouse and production support areas. This position supports receiving material storage, order picking, kitting, staging, production replenishment, and finished material movement while maintaining accurate inventory and organized warehouse locations.

The Material Handler works closely with Warehouse, Production, Receiving, Inventory Control, and other departments to ensure materials are available where and when they are needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintains clean, organized, and safe warehouse, staging, storage, and work areas.
• Follows inventory-control procedures, quality requirements, company policies, and all applicable safety practices.
• Communicates material shortages or other issues that could affect production schedules and participates in continuous improvement efforts.
• Performs other warehouse and material-handling duties as required.

Inventory Responsibilities

• Moving material only to approved locations.
• Completing required inventory transactions at the time material is moved.
• Verifying quantities before material is issued or transferred.
• Reporting unidentified or incorrectly located material.
• Avoiding unrecorded movement of inventory between warehouse or production locations.
• Supporting inventory counts and discrepancy investigations when requested.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One to two years of previous warehouse, manufacturing, material handling, or distribution experience preferred.
• Experience operating forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, or similar warehouse equipment preferred.
• Ability to read part numbers, labels, pick tickets, work orders, and bills of material.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn warehouse, inventory, or ERP systems.
• Experience using barcode scanners or handheld inventory devices is preferred.
• Basic math skills, including the ability to count and verify quantities accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
