Material Handler Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for providing overall quality assessment and documentation of slabs and maintaining an organized warehouse. The Material Handler manages each slab from delivery until production.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Load and unload slab delivery trucks and containers, verify slab sizes, scan, and tag materials each slab in inventory upon receipt.
  2. Perform quality checks for cracks, fissures, discolorations, and notify the Purchasing Manager of any defects or problems with received or stored materials.
  3. Photograph all received slabs, marking defects and imperfections, and file photos according to procedure.
  4. Understand and continuously learn the inventory tracking system, as it may change.
  5. Pull and inspect stone materials for customer viewing and production preparation.
  6. Maintain inventory and material locations.
  7. Comply with all safety processes, procedures, and standards.
  8. Move and stage materials for sales and project management teams following policy and procedure.
  9. Operate overhead cranes and forklifts safely.
  10. Keep the warehouse organized and clean.
  11. Cross-train on other equipment as required.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts is a plus.
