Job summary

A.O. Smith Corp. is hiring a Material Handler- Parts Picker for the Appleton, WI area. This onsite role supports the assembly line by unloading, staging and delivering parts according to production schedules.

Responsibilities include safe forklift operation, inventory accuracy in SAP, and maintaining a clean work area. Requires basic computer skills, a valid drivers license, and 6 months of related experience. High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure lines are supplied with parts and materials to prevent downtime.
• Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks and related equipment per safety rules.
• Record inventory transactions and movements in SAP at the time of movement.
• Verify material numbers, quantities and labels before staging or racking.
• Monitor material levels and communicate shortages to Team Lead or Supervisor.
• Store materials per procedures and 5S standards.
• Assist with cycle counts and inventory discrepancy resolution.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and report hazards immediately.
• Follow plant safety policies and PPE requirements.

Primary Function

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and put away materials.
• Load complete materials for shipment.
• Pick, stage and deliver materials and components to the assembly line based on production schedules and work orders
• Ensure assembly lines are continuously supplied with required parts, packaging and materials to prevent line downtime
• Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment in compliance with safety requirements
• Accurately perform inventory transactions and material movements in SAP at the time of movement
• Verify material numbers, quantities and labels before staging or racking materials
• Monitor material levels at the line and proactively communicate potential shortages to the Team Lead or Supervisor
• Store materials in designated locations following established procedures and 5S standards
• Assist with cycle counts, inventory checks and resolution of inventory discrepancies as required
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area, reporting hazards or equipment concerns immediately
• Follow all plant safety policies, work rules and PPE requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs

Qualifications

• Basic computer knowledge and navigation is helpful. Must have a valid state driver’s license and the aptitude to obtain a company forklift license prior to performing forklift duties.
• Experience and knowledge of the commercial boilers, water heaters and pool heaters. Prior assembly experience is preferred.
