Job Title: Material Handler Operator at Ryerson

Responsibilities

• Select material from heats or physical conditions based on order instructions
• Unload, weigh, count, and check sizes of received materials
• Identify materials by color, heat, and test numbers; organize into designated areas
• Record information on receiving documents
• Maintain safety, quality, and productivity standards
• Fill in for absent qualified positions as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned, with responsibilities subject to change

Requirements

• Successful completion of a skills assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection, measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• Experience in metals or warehouse environment
• Crane, forklift, and computer skills are advantageous
• Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measure, micrometer, and caliper
• Team player attitude
• Enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program is part of onboarding
