Job summary

Southern States LLC in Hampton, GA is seeking a full-time associate to load, unload, move and clean materials within the plant and yard.

You will follow work orders, maintain a clean and safe work area, and assist machine operators as required. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and basic math skills, with WorkKeys scores as specified. Competitive pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, fractions and decimals.
• Up to one month of related experience and/or training.
• WorkKeys scores: Applied Math 3, Graphic Literacy 4, Workplace Observation 2.

Responsibilities

• Read work orders or follow oral instructions to move materials.
• Open containers and load/unload materials onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
• Install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting during transit.
• Move materials to designated areas and record quantities on production sheet.
• Operate and maintain SmartSkim or coolant recycling system.
• Lift heavy objects by hand or with hoist and keep area clean and orderly.
• Assist machine operators as needed.

HOW YOU WILL ADD VALUE

1. Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
2. Opens containers.
3. Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
4. Installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
5. Moves materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
6. Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
7. Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
8. Operate and maintain SmartSkim, or coolant recycling system.
9. Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
10. Cleans materials by hand or with cleaning equipment.
11. Immerses objects in washing and rinsing solutions to remove debris.
12. Fills tanks with water to specified level. Pours specified quantity of soap or chemicals into water.
13. Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
14. Maintains equipment and working area in a clean and orderly condition.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential dutysatisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/orability required.

• EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); up to one monthof related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to use simple mathematical and geometric devices, such as, calculators, calipers, scales, measuring tapes, etc.
