Job summary

Caterpillar is hiring for a material handler role with cross training in shipping, receiving, and storage, including loading, unloading, and moving materials in a warehouse setting.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with 2+ years of related experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift 10–25 pounds frequently. 2nd shift is available with training on the 1st shift.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 2+ years related experience or training.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Working computer knowledge and strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 10–25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Cross train in shipping, receiving, and material handling/storage.
  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
  • Loads truck for Industrial Truck Operator.
  • Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
  • Clamps sections of portable conveyor together or places conveyor sections on blocks or boxes to facilitate movement.
  • Removes samples of materials, labels with identifying information, and takes samples to laboratory for analysis.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
  • Makes simple adjustments or repairs such as realigning belts or replacing rollers.
  • Assembles crates to contain products such as machines or vehicles.
  • Shovels loose materials into machine hoppers or into vehicles and containers such as wheelbarrows, scrap truck, or barrels.
  • Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Performs minor preventative maintenance on forklifts.

  • Performs minor preventative maintenance on forklifts (check fluid levels, lights, horns, etc.).
  • Develops a culture that works to achieve and maintain an accident-free workplace.
  • Develops a culture that works to achieve and maintain ongoing housekeeping excellence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with a minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic
  • A valid agency issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record (this includes no moving violations within the last 12 months, no "2 point" violations within the last 3 years, and no DUI's within the last 7 years)
  • Working computer knowledge and strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 10-25 pounds
Addition Information
  • 2nd shift available- Training on 1st shift.
Summary Pay Range

$16.81- $25.21

Actual rate will be based on experience. The total rewards package, beyond base salary includes:
