Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Midland, TX is seeking a Material Handler - Yard to safely load, unload and move materials on site. You will stock deliveries, assist with new orders and cycle counts, and maintain precise records of material movement while following standard work and risk assessments.

The role requires forklift experience; certification within 30 days and ability to operate a handheld scanner. Relevant tasks include identifying tools and reading drawings for accurate processing.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience operating a forklift.
  • Must be able to become forklift certified within 30 days.
  • Must be able to effectively operate hand-held scanner (inventory transaction device) within 30 days.
  • Ability to use identification tools (engraver, metal stamps, paint pen) to mark product.
  • Ability to read and interpret dimensional drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Unload, stock and inventory all deliveries.
  • Assist service operations with pulling and picking parts.
  • Read and understand standard work and risk assessments.
  • Exhibits equipment and product understanding.
  • Counts, weighs, secures, tags, palettize and stacks materials and maintains accurate records of material movement.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Material Handler - Yard is responsible for safely loading, unloading, and moving materials within or near the site.

Additional Information
  • Starting Pay: $20.85/hr, can be adjusted with experience
  • Schedule: 8 to 5 Monday through Friday, every other Saturday
  • This position does not offer relocation
  • This position does not offer sponsorship

What Will You Do
  • At SPM Oil & Gas, our primary objective is to provide our customers with excellent engineering solutions through our products and superior customer service
  • Unload, stock and inventory all deliveries
  • Assist with new orders and cycle counts
  • Read and understand standard work and risk assessments

What You Will Have

Physical Demands
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
  • Required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Working outside
  • Must be able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the department
Work Environment
  • Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration
  • Noise Level: Moderate
  • Regularly exposed to outside weather.
Summary Pay Range

$20.85 - $27.90
