Job summary

CEVA Logistics in Melrose Park, IL seeks a Material Handler Lead for the first shift (5:00 AM - 1:30 PM). You will lead team members in loading/unloading, organize materials, and ensure safe, efficient warehouse operations to meet daily goals.

You will coordinate receipt, storage and distribution, label and pack goods, and support continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment. A high school diploma and warehouse experience are required; forklift certification may be needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; warehouse experience preferred.
• 1 year of warehouse or distribution experience; 1–2 years industry experience preferred.
• Forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead team members, assign daily tasks, promote safe practices.
• Oversee loading and unloading of products.
• Manage material organization and movement between receiving, storage, and shipping areas.
• Coordinate receipt, storage and distribution of materials and equipment.
• Ensure proper labeling, tagging and packing of goods.
• Assemble customer orders and move to packing/shipping areas.
• Assist in cargo handling with manual equipment.
• Sort materials and place on racks according to codes.

YOUR ROLE
Are you known for your leadership skills and passionate about warehouse logistics and organization? Do you enjoy working in a clean and efficient warehouse environment? If so, we have an opportunity that would allow you to lead team members to execute essential manual duties and contribute to delivering results in a safe and efficient warehouse operation.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

• Serve as the lead to distribute work assignments and daily activities to team members. Promote safe work practices. Follow and ensure quality standards are adhered to. Post the performance numbers for area.
• Oversee loading and unloading of products.
• Manage material organization by moving materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
• Coordinate receipt, storage and distribution of materials, tools equipment, and products within assigned area.
• Comply with legal procedures for handling and receiving goods.
• Ensure the proper labelling, tagging and packing of goods and materials in assigned area.
• Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets / shelves, move orders to packing station or shipping department.
• Open bales, crates and other containers.
• Assist in receiving cargo by removing from truck by hand or using manual equipment such as hand truck or pallet jack or similar manual hand tools.
• Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color or product code.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED; One year experience in a warehouse or distribution environment; One to two years industry related experience preferred.
• Credentials: May require forklift certification.
• Skills: Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds; Abilityto climb ladders; Good or corrected vision; Ability to add andsubtract.
• Characteristics: Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds; Ability to read, comprehend and complete basic checklists, forms or other related documents; Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
