Job summary

Builders FirstSource in Indiana seeks a Material Handler to move components and finished products efficiently while recording material movements and operating various handling equipment in a production environment. The role involves planning tasks, training colleagues, and following safety guidelines.

You may lift up to 80 pounds and work in varying temperatures and noise. The position emphasizes teamwork, adherence to procedures, and contributing to production goals through accurate material

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Move materials to optimize flow and stock finished products.
• Record incoming/outgoing movements and verify accuracy of work performed.
• Operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment, including training if required.
• Plan and assign tasks to Material Handlers to meet production goals.
• Train employees in handling techniques, machinery use, and safety policies.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Physically handles materials used to construct components and finished products to ensure movement of such items is optimized; lifts, carries, stacks items as needed.
• Records movement of incoming and outgoing materials and supplies and verifies the accuracy of work performed by self and other material handlers.
• Operates motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment, some of which may require specialized training.
• Plans and assigns work tasks to Material Handlers in order to meet production goals.
• Trains employees in required tasks, including handling techniques, use of machinery, and safety guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and four (4) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Work is performed within a production environment, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds.
• May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing or kneeling.
